三元乙丙橡膠是（shì）乙烯、丙（bǐng）烯（xī）以及非共軛二（èr）烯烴的三元共聚物，1963年開始商業化生產。每年全世（shì）界的消費（fèi）量是（shì）80萬噸。EPDM最主要的特性就是其優越的耐氧化、抗臭氧和抗侵蝕的能力。由於三元乙丙橡膠屬於聚烯烴家族，它具有（yǒu）極好的硫化特性。在所有橡膠當中，EPDM具有最低的比重。它能吸收大量的填料和油而影響特性不大。因此可以製（zhì）作成本低廉的橡膠化合物。

三元乙（yǐ）丙是乙烯、丙烯和非（fēi）共軛二烯烴的（de）三元（yuán）共聚物。二烯烴具有特殊的結構，隻有兩鍵之（zhī）一的才能共聚（jù），不飽（bǎo）和的雙鍵（jiàn）主要是作（zuò）為交鏈處。另一個不飽和的不會成為聚合物主鏈，隻會成為邊側鏈。三元乙丙的主要聚合物鏈是完全飽和的。這個特性使得三元乙丙可以抵抗熱，光，氧氣，尤其是臭氧。三元乙丙本質上是無極性的，對極性溶液和化學物具（jù）有抗性，吸水率（lǜ）低，具有（yǒu）良好的絕緣特（tè）性。

在（zài）三元乙丙生（shēng）產過程中，通過改變三單體的數量，乙烯丙烯比，分子量及其分布以及硫化的方法可以調整其特性。

EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefins that began commercial production in 1963.It is consumed worldwide at 800,000 tons per year.The most important characteristic of EPDM is its superior resistance to oxidation, ozone and erosion.Since EPDM rubber belongs to the polyolefin family, it has excellent vulcanization properties.EPDM has the lowest specific gravity of all rubbers. It can absorb a large amount of filler and oil without affecting the characteristics much. As a result, low-cost rubber compounds can be made.

EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefins.Diolefins have a special structure, only one of the two bonds can be copolymerized, and the unsaturated double bond is mainly used as a cross-chain. The other unsaturated one will not become the polymer backbone, but only the side chain.The main polymer chains of EPDM are fully saturated. This property makes EPDM resistant to heat, light, oxygen and especially ozone.EPDM is essentially non-polar, resistant to polar solutions and chemicals, has low water absorption, and has good insulating properties.

In the EPDM production process, its characteristics can be adjusted by varying the number of trimers, ethylene-propylene ratio, molecular weight and its distribution, and the method of vulcanization.
